Reply with quote | #1 | STARGIRL...2000. I first had the idea in 1966 to write a story about a boy who lives underground. Thirty-four years later it comes as this story about a girl in Arizona. Go figure. Stargirl was inspired in part by my own Stargirl, my wife Eileen. Some things that Stargirl does were transplanted from Eileen's life. My biggest wish is that Stargirl Societies continue to grow.

To all you stargirls out there - I do not have any input in who they choose to play STARGIRL, so I can not help you with the auditions. In fact, I don't even know when they will have them. I do wish you luck if go to one.

Reply with quote | #3 | I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but "Stargirl the Movie" is not even close to being done. It has gone through a number of studios and directors. At this time they are working on a new screen play. You'll be the first to hear when I am given a release date.

Reply with quote | #4 | I don't actually know if this is the correct place to write but...
My 5th grade students are on day 2 of 4 MCAS ( MA standardized tests) tests in a row and I offered them a half hour this afternoon of a video or Stargirl and they almost all chose Stargirl.
I just wanted to say thank you

Reply with quote | #5 | Hello, Jerry,
I enjoyed reading Crash as a kid and have not actually read Stargirl, but I am curious to hear your insight on the dedication to Sonny Liston. Hope to hear from you!
Thanks, Will

Reply with quote | #6 | Umm so I don't know how forums work actually, but I really wanted to contact you Mr.Spinelli.
I am 16 years old, and I have always loved "Stargirl" since I read it in middle school. I was hoping, you could give me your permission to write a script of your book for a Young Playwrights Festival in my home state. It's a very small Festival at a Childrens Theatre that I grew up doing plays in. Students bring scripts they wrote and cast other students and then perform them for mainly friends and family. It wouldn't be a big production, but I feel that the story of "Stargirl" was never meant to be anything too elaborate. My heart sunk to the bottom of my chest when I saw that Stargirl was going to be a movie. Hopefully that wouldn't ruin my chances of adapting it to the stage. It won't be on broadway, trust me. And only about thirty or so people would ever see it, but I can't stop being excited to write this into a play. The festival isn't till February, and I have no idea if you'll ever read this. Yet, if for some reason you see this floating around in cyberspace and read it I would love to have your permission.
Thank you for your time, ( I don't think I can say my name on this)
Love, Star Girl |

Reply with quote | #7 | I am new here, so I do not know if this is the correct place to write in. I am an Italian girl, and I just wanted to thank you for having written "Stargirl", especially for the idea of the childhood albums. I admit that I had never thought about such a project, but I liked it so much that I decided to start something similar. At the moment I am going on with three albums about my cousins' childhood, and I am seriously thinking of starting a fourth one. Maybe I will leave this pleasure to my sister, if she wants... So thanks to you, in the country near Verona, Italy, there are three little "Peter Sinkowitz" who will get a faithful recording of their childhood, even if they do not know yet. I really hope they will like it, and I thank you again.

Dear Jerry Spinelli, I think that your book Stargirl was a very good book. It was not my favorite book, but I really liked this book. What inspired you to write? What did inspire you to become a writer? How did you come up with the different characters, what inspired you? Did it take a long time to write this book? Sam, Pennsylvania |
